CLU hosts homecoming weekend

The California Lutheran University Alumni Association will celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend Fri., Oct. 5 through Sun., Oct. 7.

The annual Alumni and Friends Golf Classic will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 at Moorpark Country Club, 11800 Championship Drive, Moorpark. That evening, a homecoming carnival will start at 8 p.m. on the CLU campus.

Events on Oct. 6 include breakfast with the president at 9 a.m. in the Lundring Events Center, an alumni tennis match at 9 a.m. on campus, and educational sessions hosted by faculty and administrators at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. in Soiland Humanities Center. A street fair and barbecue will start at 11:30 a.m.

That evening's activities include class reunions at 4 p.m. in Lundring Events Center, a parent reception at 6 p.m. at a faculty member's house and the Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame fifth annual induction ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center.

The Kingsmen soccer team will compete against the University of La Verne at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the football team will play Whittier College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount Clef Stadium.

On Sunday, an all-campus continental breakfast will be at 9:30 a.m. in Samuelson Chapel, followed by a worship service. A Regal alumni basketball game is slated for noon in Gilbert Arena.
