SWAT officers surround home after family dispute Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team members from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department surrounded a home in the 100 block of Teasdale Street in Thousand Oaks on Friday at about 2:20 p.m. Earlier in the day a man was treated at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center for what was described by police officials as a moderate knife stab wound to his lower leg. According to a police department report, the 49yearold alleged victim initially told deputies his son, 19, had assaulted him at their Teasdale Street home. When deputies arrived at the Teasdale home, the report said, they found the teenager's grandmother sitting in a car in the driveway. She acknowledged the 19year-old was inside, but told deputies he could leave through the backyard. The deputies set up a perimeter around the house. After no one responded to their knocks at the door, the deputies tried for an hour to set up communication by phone, but no one answered, a police report said. A small team of armed deputies entered the house and conducted a room-by-room search. No one was found inside. There was also no evidence in the home that a crime had taken place there, the report said. According to police, the wounded man then told investigators the knife wound was an accident and refused to cooperate further with the investigation. Sheriff's department personnel left the location at 4:15 p.m. An incident report was filed by deputies. The Teasdale address is familiar to deputies, who've responded to calls for assistance there in the past, said Watch CMDR. Capt. Ross Bonfiglio. - Nancy Needham |
