New West Symphony opens season on Saturday

SEASON'S FIRST GUEST- Stewart Goodyear will be a guest soloist with the New West Symphony under music director Boris Brott's baton. Featured pieces will include compositions by George Gershwin and Aaron Copland. Tickets are priced from $25 and are available by phone, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at (800) NEW-WEST (639-9378).
The New West Symphony will open its 2007-08 Masterpiece Series season at 8 p.m. Sat., Sept. 15 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks.

The program includes Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man and George Gershwin's Concerto in F for Piano and Orchestra, An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue.

New West Symphony music director Boris Brott will conduct three performances of the program with pianist Stewart Goodyear as guest soloist for the Concerto in F and Rhapsody in Blue.

Goodyear is making his debut appearance as a guest soloist with the New West Symphony at these performances.
