Emergency plan receives award

The Area Housing Authority of Ventura County received the 2007 National Award of Merit in Administrative Innovation for its collaborative emergency response plan. The award was given by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.

The Area Housing Authority is responsible for administering federal housing programs in six cities and the unincorporated areas of the county.

The agency's plan will help residents displaced by an emergency or disaster to receive assistance. The housing authority will also administer emergency housing vouchers.
