Free screening coming to library A free film screening of "Everything is Illuminated" (PG-13) will be presented at 6 p.m. Wed., Sept. 19 at the Grant Brimhall/ Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. This event is part of the Thousand Oaks Reads, One City One Book program. The movie is an adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's first novel of the same name. Starring Elijah Wood and directed by Liev Schreiber, the film was released in 2005 and tells the story of a young Jewish American man's journey to the Ukraine in search of his grandfather's past. With only a photograph and the name of a village, he sets out to find the woman who saved his grandfather during a Nazi invasion. He enlists the help of a gruff old man and his Englishspeaking grandson, who, along with the grandfather's strange dog, travel together with the young man into the heart of the Ukraine on a journey in which the past illuminates everything. The film will be followed by a discussion and audience question-and-answer session with Bob Strauss, film critic for the Los Angeles Daily News.
