Area Housing Authority has workshops

The Area Housing Authority will present a free workshop, "A Path to Home Ownership," from 6 to 7 p.m. at two Ventura County locations in September.

In Thousand Oaks the workshop will be Tues., Sept. 4 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, and in Camarillo the presentation will be Tues., Sept. 18 at the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, 2400 Ventura Blvd.

The purpose of the class is to inform low and moderateincome households of local, state and federal programs that help with the financing of a home. The class also includes an overview of the tax advantages of homeownership; special financing options for first-time home buyers (defined as someone who has not owned a primary residence in the last three years); tips on raising and maintaining a high FICO score; and an option to create a homeownership plan.
