An open letter from the Ruiz family

Sandra Ruiz's immediate family would like to express their gratitude to all the people that have shown their support to Sandra, and to us, at this difficult time.

To all her friends, co-workers, neighbors, the hospital staff, police, emergency personnel and, in particular, Amgen, the company she works for, thank you for all your help.

We deeply appreciate all your kind words and your efforts.

To the community that's been touched by the unspeakable murder of our beautiful Sev'n and has sent money and prayers, thank you for showing us there is good in the world.

To the media, please respect our privacy at this time. We're not reading nor watching news. We're concentrating all our energy on Sandra getting better. Please remember that speculations hurt her friends and those who knew her and may lead to victimize her more than she already is. Sandra is a devoted mother whose life has already been shattered by this brutal, inexcusable act. The family is devastated.

We want also to express that we're forever grateful to the courageous, selfless lady who came to Sandra's aid, saving her life. No words can express our admiration and gratitude. Thank you so much. May God bless you with a long, healthy life.
