Resident of Lake Sherwood has no right to break the rules

Regarding the article last week "Which beloved pet will have to go," it's interesting to note that someone who can afford to move into Lake Sherwood can claim that they didn't know that the CC&Rs (covenants, conditions and restrictions) had limits on the amount of pets.

Pullleez, this is just another case of someone choosing to ignore CC&Rs that were put in place to serve everyone and protect every homeowner, then claiming special rights or ignorance for the predicament they put themselves into.

One of the first orders of business when you buy a home should be to make sure you can live with the CC&Rs of that neighborhood.

The Wears just keep getting more and more dogs.

I'm confused. Maybe they should take a timeout and return some of them to the breeder.

The only thing callous here is their behavior.

I don't live there, but every neighborhood probably has a family who believes that their own sense of happiness and entitlement supersedes that of the rest of the neighborhood.

If it's not too many pets, it's noisy dogs that bark all day and night, excessive noise, illegal storage, etc., and the list goes on and on and on.

In many cases the threat of court action is the only thing that will make these people conform. I believe the HOA should stand its ground.

If there are other families that violate the CC&Rs, then the Wears have the right to request that they conform also or file a complaint.

As far as the dog with the inoperable tumor, the humane thing to do would be to put her down quickly so she can die with dignity. As the owner of a dog myself, that's what I would do.

Then the Wears could take stock of their inventory of dogs/ puppies and meet the requirement of their homeowners association.

Oh, by the way, if you haven't read your CC&Rs, now might be a good time to do so. Joe Comeau Thousand Oaks
