Fundraiser a tasty treat for Cardiac Kids group

Cardiac Kids Have HEART will present its inaugural "Heart Healthy Taste of the Conejo" from 4 to 8 p.m., Sat., Aug. 11 at Gardens of the World, 2001 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks.

Cardiac Kids is a Thousand Oaks-based, national nonprofit organization dedicated to (H)elping (E)ducate, (A)ssist, (R)esearch and (T)reat children and adults with congenital heart disease.

At this event, local restaurants will showcase their culinary "heart healthy" creations to broaden awareness of heart disease and to raise funds to support the Cardiac Kids' automated external defibrillator grant program, which provided defibrillators in local schools.

Other activities include wine tasting from regional vineyards, live music, silent auction and a raffle.

Pre-sale admission is $25 for the tasting and $35 wine included. Event day prices are $30 for the tasting and $40 wine included. Parking is available at the Civic Arts Plaza for $8.
