New officers installed at club meeting

The Channel Islands District of the California Garden Clubs Inc. recently installed officers during a meeting held at the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden in Thousand Oaks.

Jean Reiley, a past district director, performed the installation. The newly installed officers are Jeanne Kingsford, secretary, and Sandy Roth, treasurer.

New officers were also installed at the club's state convention held this summer in Bakersfield. Joyce Reid, outgoing district director, was appointed to the club's 2007-09 nominating committee. Channel Islands District Director Margaret Strachan was one of the 23 district directors installed at the convention.

As Reid ended her 2005-07 term as district director, she announced that the district had donated a 15-gallon ginkgo tree for the Trail of Trees project at the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden in honor of Pacific Region Director Beverly Brune, a member of the Westlake Garden Club.

The Channel Islands District represents the Conejo Valley, Ojai Valley, Pleasant Valley and Westlake garden clubs, as well as the San Fernando Valley Sogetsu Branch.

The district is an information conduit from the California Garden Clubs Inc. and conducts its own charitable, educational and scientific endeavors independent of the individual clubs.
