Beyond War topic of T.O. Library program Dr. Robert Dodge of Ventura will speak from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wed., Aug. 29 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road. Dodge, a board member of the organization Beyond War, will discuss what individuals can do to encourage leaders to resolve conflicts without resorting to war. "I believe 'Beyond War' is evolving as a movement at a critical period in our history. The present is a time not unlike the times that gave birth to other great social change movements, such as ending slavery, ending segregation, providing women the right to vote and ending apartheid. In the nuclear age, ending war is not only possible, it is critical if we are to survive," Dodge said. Dodge has a family medical practice in Ventura. He is cochairman of Citizens for Peaceful Resolutions and president of Physicians for Social Responsibility, Ventura County. The program, sponsored by Global Exchange Ventura County Supporters, is free and open to the public. For more information call (805) 498-9401 or e-mail GlobalExchangeVCS@yahoo.com. Beyond War's mission is to explore, model and promote the means for humanity to live without war through a new way of thinking about resolving conflicts.
