Fire truck pull will benefit a worthy cause
The fourth annual Fire Truck Pull will once again pit the strength of firefighters against law enforcement- all for a good cause.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Sat. Aug. 11 in front of the Village Lawn at Ventura Harbor Village, teams of six men and/or women will compete against each other to see who can pull a 25,000-pound fire truck 25 feet in the quickest time.

Proceeds from the event, which is part of the harbor's Marina Days, will benefit Special Olympics Ventura County and the Moorpark DARE program.

City and county law enforcement and fire departments, businesses, high schools, colleges and individuals are invited to form a team and enter.

Teams will be allowed two attempts at achieving their best time. The combined time will determine the winner. Trophies will be awarded through third place. All entrants will receive an event T-shirt.

Early team signups are being held at Ventura County Sheriff's main detention facility, the county fire department and the Oxnard Police Department.

This year the pull will include a division for youth ages 10 through 18, who will pull a lighter, antique fire truck that will be provided by Ding Masters of Ventura. Combined time from two pulls will determine the winning team.

Entry fees for adult and youth teams are $150 each. Teams are encouraged to obtain sponsor donations. A $500 American Express Card will be awarded for every $2,000 sponsor donation that's turned in on the day of the event.
