Bring back a roller skating rink

I've been reading all your letters to the editor pertaining to the Kmart building being turned into another Home Depot.

We have a Home Depot.

I was a schoolteacher here for 27 years, and we've lived in Thousand Oaks for 47 years.

I remember a wonderful rollerskating rink on Hampshire Road where we skated to beautiful organ music. What fun it was to glide across the floor, holding hands with your partner.

How about a sliding wooden floor in the former Kmart building for rollerskating in the summertime and warm evenings and ice skating for the winter months?

We've been to Staples Center, and they have ice skating shows and our great Lakers' team plays on a hardwood floor.

So, see, it can be done.
