Hypnotherapist to help cancer patients and their families

Paula GettyShearer, a certified hypnotherapist, will lead a free workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 16 at The Wellness Community Valley/ Ventura, 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

The workshop is for cancer patients and their family members on how to use hypnotherapy and guided imagery to aid recovery.

Getty-Shearer received her training at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute, the first nationally accredited school for hypnotherapy.

Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation that uses the gifts of the subconscious mind to support the desires of the conscious mind.
