Commissioner needs more information before taking a position First, for a sitting planning commissioner to state a position when a hearing is likely is unprofessional ("Decisions must be based on more than just the city's cash flow," T.O. Acorn letters to the editor, July 12.) Mr. Adam has always been a supporter of city revenue enhancements when the revenue has suited his preferences. It appears that the "city coffers" are code for no growth or long-term progressive planning. And who is he referring to as the "rest of us"? Does city revenue benefit only the T.O. Boulevard property owners? He asks about the character of Thousand Oaks? Wasn't the old bar where Gardens of the World now resides part of the "character" of Thousand Oaks? How about Jungleland? Then a false comparison of residential neighborhoods to commercial districts. I question his competency in the planning process. When Mr. Adam questions the consultants' understanding of the flavor, he intimates that they (lacked) diligence in their research. I bet Mr. Adam has spent many a time in San Luis Obispo and commented on the charm of the city, five-story buildings and all. He seems like a NIMBY (not in my backyard) planning commissioner.
I would hope in the future Mr. Adam would stop airing
his preconceived positions in the media, unless of course he's running for City
Council and pandering to the Parks' no-growth gang. Del Campo formerly served on the T.O. City Council. | |||||
