Woman commits suicide by lying down on Hillcrest Drive

A 55-year-old woman with a suicide note in her pocket was killed when a car drove over her as she lay in the road in the 200 block of Hillcrest Drive, authorities said.

She suffered multiple blunt force injuries to her body and was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m. July 11, said Armando Chavez, senior deputy medical examiner.

After an investigation, her death was determined to be a suicide, he said. No toxicology tests are being done.

The 19-year-old driver was on his way home from a movie when he stopped his car after he felt he had run over something at Hillcrest Drive between Hodencamp Road and Boardwalk Avenue, Thousand Oaks Police Sgt. Tom Bennett said.

The woman was identified by Chavez as Starr Hastie of Thousand Oaks.
