Adult group to discuss classic movie The Challengers Adult Sunday School Class of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church will screen the 1962 movie "To Kill a Mockingbird" at 7:30 p.m. Sat., July 28 in the Buena Vista Room of Hager Parish Hall, One Church Road, Thousand Oaks, a block north of Janss Road. The group will examine the classic film's moral themes, with a short introduction at 7:15 p.m. The showing is free, and the public is invited. Free popcorn will be served, and drinks will be available for a nominal charge. Gregory Peck received the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as Atticus Finch, the country lawyer who defends a black man falsely accused of assaulting a white woman during the Great Depression. Mary Badham plays Scout, Finch's precocious daughter. In his screen debut, Robert Duvall is the silent, mentally challenged Boo Radley. The film is an adaptation of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning book. The Challengers' "Last Saturday of the Month" film series presents secular and religious movies that show positive accomplishment or emotional growth.
