Local Girl Scouts box up 2,000 books in contribution to literacy

TOP ACHIEVEMENT- Young people from Girl Scout Troop No. 557 of Newbury Park collected 2,000 gently used books for The Book Bag, which will distribute them where they're most needed to promote literacy. The girls were helped by Maple Elementary School, which conducted book drives. Five girls were instrumental in the effort, Brittany Brown, Sara DellaRipa, Shandi Noble, Samantha Mhyre and Danielle Rakowski.
