'Books in a Barn' lets kids horse around

Children can learn about horses at the hands-on "Books in a Barn" event at 11 a.m. Sat., July 14 at Ride On Therapeutic, 401 Ronel Court in Newbury Park. The event is co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Conejo Valley.

Children, in groups of 20, will sit on bales of hay in a barn to listen to a story about a horse. Afterwards, in another barn, they will have the chance to pet a pony and see other horses, then move to an artsandcrafts room to create their own pony puppets.

Refreshments will be provided, and children's books will be sold.
