Helping people who are hungry

DOING A GOOD DEED- From left, Stephanie Lee, Katie Weibezahl, Hannah Press, Kiaya Ongania and Effie Sklavenitis of Colina Middle School postponed the start of summer vacation to collect nonperishable food and other items for Manna, the Conejo Valley food bank. The girls are members of Girl Scout Troop No. 799. They stapled fliers to bags that were donated by Trader Joe's and distributed them to homes in Westlake Village. The girls returned later to collect the food that residents had donated. The effort was particularly appreciated by the folks at Manna because food supplies dwindle during the summer months. Manna is at 3020 Crescent Way in Thousand Oaks.
