Feedback sought on Rancho Potrero

JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers LEARN MORE- - The Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) will host a community workshop on the future of Rancho Potrero from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mon., July 2 in the Conejo Recreation and Park District Community Room, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive.
Conejo Recreation and Park District is looking for suggestions from residents on how they think 326 acres of difficult-to-access open space in Newbury Park could best serve those who love outdoor activities and nature.

The Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency will host a community workshop on the future of the Rancho Potrero property from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mon., July 2. The workshop will be held in the Conejo Recreation and Park District Community Room, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive.

Those who attend will have an opportunity to review the Rancho Potrero Conceptual Plan, which includes open space, trails, a trailhead and the existing Rancho Potrero Equestrian Center. A picnic area that can be reserved and used as an outdoor classroom is also planned for the public land. Three smaller picnic areas are also possible.

Input received from this community workshop will help to shape the Rancho Potrero Specific Plan, which is expected to be completed this fall.

Acquired in 1993, Rancho Potrero is located in southwest Newbury Park.

"It is stunningly beautiful," city spokesperson Andrew Powers said. "On a clear day you can see the ocean."
