Local youth teams heat up just in time for summer

THUNDER THRILLS- The Westlake-Agoura Girls Softball (WAGS) U-8 Thunder capped an undefeated weekend at the Moorpark June Jamboree Tournament with a 15-6 victory in the title game against Moorpark. The team went 5-0, beating powerhouses South Huntington Beach, Vista, Placentia Yorba Linda, Rancho Bernardo and Los Alamitos. GOLDEN- The Newbury Park U-12 Gold softball team took first place in Moorpark. Led by pitcher Michelle Moss, who had 30 strikeouts during the tournament, the Gold defeated Santa Paula 4-1 in the final. Last weekend, the Gold won the Newbury Park Tournament.
