Booklet can help you identify trees

The National Arbor Day Foundation has a resource available to help an average person identify trees in a simple, step-by-step process.

"What Tree Is That?" is an 84-page pocket guidebook that helps distinguish different species of trees in California and the Western region of the United States.

The book also includes dozens of detailed drawings which accurately illustrate the specific shapes and textures of different leaves, needles, acorns, berries, seed pods, cones and other identifying features.

"Helping people enjoy and appreciate trees is central to the educational mission of the Arbor Day Foundation," said John Rosenow, foundation president.

To obtain the guide, send name, address and $3 for each booklet to What Tree Is That?, The National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410.

The book may also be ordered online at www.arborday.org.
