Raising funds with their feet

The Senior Concerns' 14th annual Love Run on June 3 featured 717 registered runners and strollers, backed by more than 40 businesses, service clubs and municipal sponsors to raise an afterexpenses net of more than $34,000.

The event took participants around Westlake Lake in USA Track and Field-certified 5K and 10K runs and a 1-mile run/walk for families. Jim Sherman, Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center CEO and president, served as the event's honorary chair.

First place finishers were Andy Thompson, male 5K run; Jennifer Mallen, female 5K run; Joey Snyder, male 10K run; and Kim Hargrave, female 10K run.

Team Aloha from Los Rbles Hospital and Medical Center raised the most funds and had the most members.

The event benefits the Conejo Valley's Meals on Wheels program, which last year delivered more than 47,000 nutritious meals to the area's homebound and dependent seniors who could not shop or cook for themselves.
