Principal's departure is still a mistake

In response to "Let bygones be bygones over school principal" (May 31 T.O. Acorn), Ms. Lomax's letter has had the polar opposite effect that it was trying to create. The parents at Wildwood had moved on.

Ms. Lomax doesn't have her facts correct. She knows Ms. Hale did write a letter to the parents. The district denied permission for the letter to be sent home.

She knows that parents didn't "go public" until the staff was notified.

She knows the previous principal had three years of turmoil at Wildwood with staff and parents, and she knows that the former principal was transferred to Acacia Elementary

What seems to have been missed in this whole episode is that Darlene Hale always kept the children's needs and education on the top of the list in every decision she made.

No matter what anyone personally wanted, the focus for Ms. Hale was always on our students, despite internal disruption, politics or policy. That is the very rarest of qualities in an administrator.

Ms. Lomax should be ashamed, trying to use her position as if she has the inside scoop.

I don't believe she has even discussed any of this with Ms. Hale, but to think that even the cafeteria manager feels the district has "good cause" for releasing Ms. Hale only confirms that the staff cannot deny their hand in these affairs.

All parties involved should take responsibility for what has happened, not deny it. Patty Shaw Thousand Oaks
