Yoga eases transitions

The transition from elementary school to middle school can be a difficult time for young girls.

A class is being offered to help ease this passage Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. starting Aug. 19 at Westlake Yoga Studio, 2277 Townsgate Road, No. 208, Westlake Village. There will be no class Labor Day weekend.

The series of five classes will include one hour of yoga followed by interactive-, mind-, body and spiritrelated activities. Some of the topics that will be covered are intuition, nutrition, creating healthy friendships and positive thinking.

According to Stacy Shaul, MA, CN, who helped design the classes, "The girls are going through so many changes at this age. We are hoping to honor their feelings about the changes ahead of them as well as teach them the importance of taking care of themselves utilizing practices such as yoga and meditation. We will also be using engaging, hands-on activities to discuss topics such as peer pressure and media literacy."

Shaul has a background in clinical psychology and nutrition and is working with Jessica Anderson, an established yoga instructor, to teach the classes. Special guest Christine Lang, a noted intuitive, will be teaching the class on intuition.

Series cost is $150. Informational meetings will take place at 5:30 p.m. Sat., June 30 and 3 p.m. Sun., July 29.

To attend an informational meeting, for information or to sign up, call (805) 551-2664 or e-mail sacredlearningadventures@ gmail.com.
