Two men were recently caught in connection with the recent theft of several commercial washing machines and dryers. The appliances were stolen from apartment and condominium complexes throughout the Conejo Valley. The suspects cut the utility lines to the washers and dryers and loaded them into a Toyota van. Later, they cut open the coin boxes, stole the money, and dumped the discarded appliances in Thousand Oaks neighborhoods. The suspects, both of Newbury Park, Jeffrey Day, 36, and Augustine Vasquez, 34, were caught after a witness to one of the burglaries wrote down a license plate number and gave it to authorities, who conducted a surveillance operation. Day and Vasquez were arrested at 9 p.m. June 1 after five stolen washers or dryers were allegedly found in the home of Vasquez. Newbury Park Complaints of drug sales at a motel in the 2400 block of W. Hillcrest Drive led Ventura County detectives to investigate. Two suspects, a male, 41, of Oxnard and a female, 30, of Ventura were known to have dealt drugs in the past. The female had a warrant for her arrest and she falsely identified herself at 4:30 p.m. June 6. She was also in possession of a substance believed to be heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Around the same time, the male suspect ran when confronted and allegedly tossed out a quarter-ounce of a substance believed to be cocaine. He was caught by authorities and arrested for possession of cocaine, resisting arrest and violation of probation. In the first block of Carob Drive, a home was burglarized between 11:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. June 6. A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle the night of June 5 in the 3700 block of San Nicolas Court. An unlocked vehicle provided easy access for a thief who stole items the night of June 4 in the 2000 block of Woodcutter Lane. That same night in the 1900 block, another vehicle was similarly targeted. On Hillcrest Court south of Peppermint Lane on June 3 or 4, an unlocked vehicle was burglarized. In the 4300 block of Potrero Road between 4 and 4:30 a.m. June 4, items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. An unlocked pickup was targeted by unknown suspect(s) in the 3900 block of Blackwood Street the night of June 3. The night of June 31, a home was burglarized in the 600 block of Ruth Drive. In the 400 block of Pacific Circle, an unlocked vehicle was the site of petty theft between 7 p.m. June 2 and 12:05 a.m. June 3. A vehicle belonging to Ventura County Sheriff's Department was deliberately and intentionally damaged by a known suspect at 9:18 p.m. June 2 in the 1200 block of Newbury Road. A female, 48, was subsequently arrested. An 18-year-old male tried to steal seven CDs from Target the afternoon of June 2. Near Lynn Road and Felton Street the late evening of June 1, a firearm was illegally discharged. Something was stolen from a laundry room between 7:30 and 7:35 p.m. June 1 in the 600 block of Paseo Esmeralda. Someone stole something from a garage during daytime on June 1 in the 200 block of Walter. Obscenities were scratched into a vehicle's driver's door and bed on May 31 or June 1 in the 1300 block of Alessandro Drive. The damage was $1,000. Someone unsuccessfully tried to enter a dwelling in the 700 block of Ruth Drive at 4:30 a.m. June 1 by prying open a mail slot and then attacking the front door with a prying tool. A vehicle was burglarized the night of May 30 in the 700 block of Avenida Loma Portal. In the 600 block of Via Vista, a home was burglarized on Feb. 28. The incident was only recently reported. A male, 52, was arrested for telling employees that they could connect to a non-metered water source between 9:10 and 9:30 a.m. May 30 in the 300 block of Via Las Brisas. A trailer and gutter-forming machine valued at $38,000 was stolen on May 28 or 29 in the 2600 block of Lavery Court. When he was stopped for noncurrent vehicle registration, a male, 26, was in possession of numerous credit cards that didn't belong to him at 1:05 a.m. June 6 at Rancho Conejo and Hillcrest drives. For possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, a male, 26, was cited and released at 11:25 a.m. June 5 in the 600 block of N. Wendy Drive. A female, 47, was arrested for allegedly battering and scratching her husband at 9:09 a.m. May 31 in the 2700 block of Teller Road. For suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the following were arrested at the times, dates and places indicated: A male, 24, at 11:26 p.m. June 5 at Rancho Conejo and Hillcrest Drive; a female, 24, at 3:03 a.m. June 1 Wendy Drive and the 101 Freeway overpass; and a male, 34, at 11:02 p.m. May 29 on Avenida de La Plata, south of Hillcrest Drive. For suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance at Galway Lane and Donegal Avenue, a male, 21, was arrested at 3:57 p.m. May 30. Thousand Oaks Two homes were broken into and burglarized on June 6 or 7 in the 500 block of Horizon Lane. One occurred during daytime on June 6. A known suspect forced his way into a home in the 800 block of Dover Avenue with the intent to steal items at 6:50 a.m. June 5. Someone tried to break into an Avenida de Los Arboles hardware store at 4:36 a.m. June 5. Someone hit a male on the head at 11 p.m. June 2 in the 2900 block of E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard. Sears was targeted by a female shoplifter, 36, who was cited and released the afternoon of June 4. Someone stole property from a gym locker on the afternoon of June 4 in the 100 block of N. Moorpark Road. A male, 51, was cited and released after he allegedly took a cellphone from a female and threw it, preventing her from calling for help at 11:50 a.m. June 4 at a Moorpark and Janss roads gas station. Tools were stolen from a storage container between June 1 and 4 in the 100 block of Reino Road. Police equipment was stolen between noon and 3 p.m. June 2 in the 400 block of Sidlee Street. Someone was observed trying to open locked car doors at 4:01 a.m. June 3 in the 1700 block of W. Hillcrest Drive. Vandalism occurred in the 1900 block of Potrero Road on June 2 or 3. It may have caused $4,000 in damages. Another incident in the 1500 block during the same time period caused about $300 damage. A female, 31, was the victim of first-degree robbery at 2:15 a.m. June 3 at Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Cord Avenue. ' A vehicle was stolen from a garage in the 600 block of Brossard Avenue the afternoon of June 2. An unlocked vehicle gave easy access to a thief on June 1 or 2 in the 500 block of Sorrento Circle. A drainage canal near Greenmeadow Avenue west of Green Heath Place was the site of graffiti damage between 1:25 and 1:45 p.m. June 2. A known suspect allegedly battered a female, 48, at 1:50 a.m. June 2 in the first block of E. Wilbur Road. Stereo equipment was stolen from a vehicle between 7:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. June 1 on Via Merida north of T.O. Boulevard. Items were stolen on May 31 or June 2 from an unlocked vehicle on Lucero Street. Computer equipment was stolen from a Hampshire Road business on May 18. The incident was only recently reported. In the 100 block of Verde Vista on May 31 or June 1, someone stole items from an unlocked vehicle. Someone willfully and maliciously damaged the property of two victims between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. May 31 in the 2900 block of Irongate Place. Vandalism caused $650 damage to an apartment complex in the 200 block of E. Wilbur Road between noon and 4 p.m. May 21. An unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of Camino Verde was an open invitation to a thief the night of May 30. The rear window of a vehicle was smashed in the 1100 block of Calle Almendro the night of May 27 ($300 damage). Someone unsuccessfully tried to break into a home between 12:15 and 12:20 p.m. May 25 in the 1000 block of Deepwood Drive. A female, 21, was believed to have been involved in the theft or joyride of a vehicle that was missing from the 1600 block of Dover Avenue. She was found in the vehicle at her boyfriend's home in the 700 block of Camino Dos Vios. She may have also have been in possession of and under the influence of a controlled substance at 11:53 a.m. June 5. For possession of less than an ounce of marijuana in a vehicle, a male, 20, was cited and released at 3:15 p.m. June 3 in a church parking lot. After a non-injury accident in the 1700 block of Wellesley Drive at 5 p.m. June 4, a male, 18, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Following a hit and run accident, a male, 21, was arrested in the 900 block of Westcreek Lane at 8:48 a.m. June 3. He appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant, for which infraction he was also arrested. At 2:10 a.m. June 3 police responded to a disturbance on Siesta, south of Avenida de Las Flores. While there, a deputy noticed an extremely intoxicated female, 34, who was advised not to drive. A short time later, she was observed driving her SUV, so she was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. A male, 44, was stopped for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle at 6:40 p.m. June 2 in the 700 block of Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The subject was then also arrested for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Another male, 38, was also cited for having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. For drinking alcohol in public, a male, 33, was at 7:35 a.m. June 2 cited and released in the first block of E. Hillcrest Drive. At p.m. later that day in the 700 block of E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, another male, 40, was similarly cited. A male, 44, had a methamphetamine pipe in his possession when he was stopped for expired registration at 3:31 p.m. June 2 in the first block of N. Moorpark Road. The subject was also arrested for giving false information to a peace officer. A female passenger, 36, was arrested at the same time on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A male, 32, at 11:34 p.m. June 1 was cited and released in the 200 block of W. Janss Road for riding on a roadway while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A male, 50, allegedly sold medicine that he's not licensed for at 2:45 p.m. May 30 at Waverly Heights Drive and Princeton Road. The following were arrested for suspicion of drunk driving at the time, dates and places indicated: A male, 38, at 1:13 a.m. June 6 at Moorpark Road and Avenida de Los Arboles; a female, 25, at 2:33 a.m. June 3 on Olsen Road east of the 23 Freeway; a male, 45, at 6:50 p.m. June 2 on Briarcliff Road; a male, 55, at 6:59 p.m. June 2 on Lynn Road north of the 101 Freeway; a male, 21, at 1:23 a.m. June 2 at Hillcrest Drive and Avenida de La Platino; a male, 60, at 10:38 p.m. May 30 in the 2500 block of N. Moorpark Road; and a male, 48, at 2:01 a.m. May 30 on Skyline Drive north of T.O. Boulevard. Westlake/T.O. An unknown suspect forced his way into a room at 6:30 p.m. June 5 in the 800 block of S. Westlake Boulevard, cut phone lines and forced a female, 39, to give him money. A business in the 2500 block of Townsgate Road was broken into and burglarized (loss of $2,000) the night of June 4. Westlake Hills Elementary School was targeted by spraypainting vandal(s) between June 2 and 4. Several locations in nearby Russell Park were similarly damaged ($500 loss) during the same time period. At T.O. Boulevard and Lakeview Canyon Road between 6:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. June 1, a vehicle was broken into and burglarized ($200 loss). An ignition device had $500 damage after someone tried to steal a vehicle the night of May 31 from a rental agency in the 2200 block of Townsgate Road. Property was stolen the afternoon of May 31 in the 1000 block of S. Westlake Boulevard.
A shoplifter was caught the early afternoon of May 29 at a drugstore in the 3800 block of E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard. |
