Rotary Club presents awards to youth

The Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks, in its Youth Citizenship Awards program, honored 25 youngsters who attend elementary and middle schools in Conejo Valley Unified School District.

The awards were given based on submissions by school principals, counselors and teachers noting the students' school and community service and personacharacteristics.

The recipients included Natalie Ewing, Acacia Elementary; Espen Slattum, Aspen; Kelly Chow, Banyan; Rachael KlavirColina Middle School; Arantxa Sanchez Cruz, Conejo; Katherine Munning, Cypress; Emily Brooks, Glenwood. Also Natalie Dueber, LaderaHanna Bluth, Lang RanchHannah Barrett, Los Cerritos Middle School; Kate HardingMadrona; Brian Ortega, Manzanita; Perla Castro, Maple; RacheRoberts, Meadows; Clara Garcia, Park Oaks.

Plus Rebecca Sylvers, Redwood Middle School; Emily Dellentash, Sequoia Middle School; Emily Sweetman, Sycamore Canyon; Sarah Stevens, Sycamore Canyon Middle School; Jessica Lupanow, University.

And Vicent Carbone, Walnut; Makenna Kinnon, Weathersfield; Alice Neary, Westlake; Alisa Hunter, Westlake Hills; and Kalpa Viswanadhan,Wildwood.

On hand to present the awards were Thousand Oaks Mayor Pro Tem Jacqui Irwin, Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks and CVUSD directors of elementary and secondary education, Linda Peralta and Max Beaman.
