Sad that another store is saying goodbye

I like to read the Acorn because it has good local coverage and a higher percentage of good news versus bad than most local papers. It was an unusual thing about the May 31 edition that the bad news came in the form of a full-page ad stating that Newbury Park Hardware will be closing.

I have been going to Newbury Park Hardware for 30 years, and they will be sorely missed by this community. I dread the thought of having to fight the crowds at Home Depot every time I need a small part to fix the toilet or to pick up a couple of bolts and washers, to say nothing of getting some good advice.

Couldn't we get rid of a pizza place or something?

I haven't been this disappointed with a store closing since we lost our last auto parts store.
