Auditions being held for Queen rock musical

The Young Artists Ensemble will hold auditions for the amateur production of the rock musical "We Will Rock You" Sat. and Sun., June 2 and 3 at Hillcrest Center For The Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

The show has music and lyrics by Queen and book by Ben Elton. Queen rock classics such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Another One Bites The Dust" and "We Are The Champions" are featured.

Auditions are by appointment only and open to all actors, singers and dancers ages 13 to 19. Those trying out should wear comfortable clothing and be ready to learn a dance combination. All roles are open.

Those auditioning must prepare a one-minute song which can be classic rock, pop or Broadwaystyle pop from a contemporary musical. Do not sing Rodgers and Hammerstein or rap. Singers need to bring sheet music with no transpositions.

Callbacks for some roles will be Monday evening, June 4.

Performances will be July 20 to 29 in the Scherr Forum Theatre of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The participant fee is $175. Financial aid is available.

The show is directed by Mark Andrew Reyes with musical direction by Susan Treworgy and choreography by Alexis Miller.
