CV Days a big success The 2007 Conejo Valley Days five-day festival and carnival drew the largest crowds since organizers began counting, said Jean Duffy, 2007 CVD general chair. Almost 60,000 people attended the event, up from between 45,000 and 50,000 last year. Duffy attributes the increase in attendance to the festival's new rides, new ticket options and a variety of new entertainment. "We tried to offer entertainment that attracted all segments of the community," said Duffy. "We will always have representation from our large equestrian community at CVD, but we also wanted to make sure we included entertainment that appealed to other segments. With the Radio Disney/ Everlife concert, motocross competition, Foghat rock concert, entertainment at the Fun Zone and on the Kidz Korner stage, bingo and SuperDogs shows, we made sure there was something for everyone." Gate revenues were also up by 25 percent over 2006. "We offered ticket pre-sales through school PTAs and booster clubs," said Duffy. "All the schools indicated they'd be back next year. We also sold tickets through our website for the first time. That also attracted more festival-goers, and we'll offer even better online services next year." Nonprofit groups took in more than $190,000 during the five-day festival at game and food booths. "The money these organizations earn during CVD goes directly back into the community- whether it's to help a school booster club or to support a nonprofit service organization," said Duffy. "CVD is a wonderful way for groups to make thousands of dollars in only a few days. We have the support of the community to thank for that."
