Two CLU professors retiring this month

Two professors at California Lutheran University will retire this month at the end of the semester. Julia Sieger, of the School of Education, and Mel Haberman, of the English department, will become emeriti faculty members.

As coordinator of the liberal studies program at CLU, Sieger served as a professor in the School of Education. After joining the CLU faculty in 1999, Sieger began teaching foundation courses in the Teacher Preparation Program.

She came to CLU with more than 15 years of experience in education as a teacher and administrator in both the public and private sectors.

She earned her bachelor's degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of San Francisco.

Haberman, who joined the CLU faculty in 1979, earned his bachelor's degree from the City College of New York and his doctorate from Harvard University. Haberman completed a fulllength manuscript on the novels of Charles Dickens. During his time at CLU, Haberman has taught courses in cinema, American literature and humanities.
