Would like a new Home Depot in Thousand Oaks

There have been several articles and letters in the past weeks regarding the Home Depot project on Hampshire Road, and Id like to express my strong support for the project.

I've lived in Thousand Oaks for 16 years and am excited to have a new Home Depot developed at the site of the old Kmart.

With a personal background in development, I'm very familiar with zoning principles and feel that the new Home Depot is appropriate and needed in our neighborhood.

The fact is Kmart used to be there, and retail is the right use for this site. This building has been a white elephant in our community for years. This is one of our city's gateways, and it's a shame that when entering our community the first impression is a vacant, lifeless, fenced-off structure.

Home Depot will breathe new life into this site, and it is the right choice for Thousand Oaks. This new store is much needed in this community, and I would welcome Home Depot as a neighbor.
