Church women to celebrate Friendship Day

The local unit of Church Women United will celebrate May Friendship Day at 10:30 a.m. Fri., May 4 at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 588 Camino Manzanas, Thousand Oaks. The service will be followed by a salad luncheon in room 3-4.

The Friendship Day celebration is to encourage discussion about creating "compassionate and peaceful friendships with the voiceless and faceless sisters in our city, community and the world," according to an organization spokesperson.

A freewill offering will be collected to support the group's work.
