Local colleges react to tragic shootings at Virginia Tech

      As college faculty members and students everywhere struggled to comprehend last week's tragic shootings at Virginia Tech, authorities at California State University at Channel Islands dealt with an April 19 Internet incident that hinted at similar danger on the Camarillo campus.

      Nominations are being sought countywide for the first annual Educators' Hall of Fame dinner and awards ceremony this fall. Nominees can include teachers from preschool through university. While the awards are intended to honor retirees, posthumous nominations will be considered as well.
