Sound wall lament

They're building too many high ugly walls on the 23 Freeway. (They will become) a canvas for graffiti artists.

If they would put the energy they're now using to build the walls into widening the freeway, which I thought was the original idea, we'd have a third lane by now and we could still see the green trees and foliage beside the freeway.

With apologies to Joyce Kilmer and Odgen Nash I offer the following lament: I think that I shall never see A wall as lovely as a tree, And unless the wall should chance to fall, I'll never see a tree at all.
