Presbyterians celebrate the beauty of the Earth Children and adults at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village are participating in a number of stewardship activities in April to care for and preserve the Earth. +Church members kicked off the month with a bake and bag sale, selling more than 75 recycled, reusable church shopping bags and more than $1,700 in baked goods. Proceeds will support Floresta, a Christian nonprofit organization committed to helping reverse deforestation and poverty in the world by transforming the lives of the rural poor. +The church preschoolers painted recycling cans that have been distributed throughout the campus. +The church hosted an Art from Scrap Art Fair on the mezzanine between services Sun., April 15. Members and friends created artistic expressions of their faith from found treasures in trash and recycling bins. Sarah Check, a Floresta representative, was present to discuss care for the Earth. +Presbyterians will clean up the beach at Sycamore Canyon in Malibu from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., April 21. +Members are encouraged to ride, walk, skate, scooter or car pool to church on "Ride Your Bike to Church Sunday" April 22. Earthcapades, an environmental performance group, will be present during the Sunday School hour to teach children that their actions can make a difference.
