Grand Lodge Elks award given for Scouting service

The Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge No. 2477 has announced that Bill Miller, Scouting committee chairman, was named the Grand Lodge Marvin Lewis Award recipient for 2006-07 in the Western Regional Scouting area. Each regional representative has between 10 to 13 states to promote all of Scouting.

Miller joined the lodge in 2002. His son is an Eagle Scout, and under Miller's direction the lodge now sponsors four Boy Scout troops, two Cub Scout packs and eleven Girl Scout units.

Miller is the fourth lodge member to have this honor bestowed on him, following Richard Goldner, Greg Metzgus, and Bill Sternberg. The presentation will be made at the Grand Lodge convention in Charlotte, N.C. July 8 through 12.
