Bring batteries to Earth Day

The city of Thousand Oaks will collect dry cell household batteries at the Public Works booth during the Arbor/Earth Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., April 21 at Conejo Creek Park North, 1379 E. Janss Road, behind the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library.

It is illegal to dispose of batteries in the garbage, down storm drains or on the ground. Residents unable to bring batteries to the Earth Day event may dispose of them at the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Program Sat., May 5 by calling (805) 449-7283 or visiting www.toaks.org.

The 10th annual Arbor/Earth Day, presented by the city and the Conejo Recreation and Park District, will feature vendors, entertainment, animal shows, new technology vehicles, a Tidepool Cruiser, children's activities, food, compost workshops, a Jolly Jump and an arta-thon.
