CRPD offers 19th annual summer music camp

Conejo Recreation and Park District will present the 19th annual Conejo Valley Summer Music Camp for children ages 11 to 15 in the band and chorus rooms of Thousand Oaks High School, 2323 Moorpark Road.

Two sessions are available and campers may choose either or both sessions. Session I is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 2 through 13 with no camp on July 4. Session II is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 16 through 26 with no camp on July 27.

The camp is for musicians who have been playing their instrument for at least one year and are interested in rehearsing and performing with other musicians.

The camp is open to all instrumentalists. Each session includes wind ensemble, small ensemble, harmony and jazz band.

The instructor is Janine Delwarte, MA, a professional woodwind player and composer. She is the musical director of Circus Flora.

The cost is $260 for each session and $235 for each sibling each session.

After-camp workshops in brass, woodwind, jazz improvisation and understanding rhythm are available from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on specified days. The fee for each workshop is $75.

Session I campers will give a final performance from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Fri., July 13, and Session II musicians will perform from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thurs., July 26. Both performances will be in the Thousand Oaks High School Performing Arts Center.
