Junior Ranger Day coming to Thousand Oaks

The National Park Service will celebrate National Park Week in April with Junior Ranger Day events at 100 National Parks throughout the country.

In the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Junior Ranger Day will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sat., April 28 at the Satwiwa Native American Indian Cultural Center, 4126 Potrero Road, Thousand Oaks.

The event will feature a Chumash storyteller, and Ranger Susan Diaz will lead programs and other family activities.

Children between the ages of 7 and 18 are invited to become Junior Rangers and take home a special Junior Ranger Day patch and pin.

Junior Rangers explore the outdoor world and learn about the people whose cultures have shaped the landscape of our national park.
