Devil's at play on 'Angel Street'

HE'S NO ANGEL- - Todd Weldon as Jack and Nancy Finn as his wife, Bella, are served tea by maid Hannah Kaplan in the Conejo Players production of "Angel Street." The classic psychological thriller, originally produced for film and stage under the title "Gaslight," runs April 13 through May 12 at the theater at 351 S. Moorpark Road. The Conejo Players Theatre will present "Angel Street" by Patrick Hamilton Thursdays through Saturdays, with two Sunday performances, April 13 to May 12 at 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.

Showtimes are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. April 15 and May 6. Tickets are $14 for Thursday performances, $16 Fridays and Sundays, and $18 for opening night and Saturdays.

First produced on Broadway as "Gaslight," "Angel Street" tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Manningham. Mr. Manningham is slowly torturing his wife into insanity under the guise of kindness. While he is out, Mrs. Manningham is visited by "Rough" from Scotland Yard. Rough becomes convinced that Mr. Manningham is a maniacal criminal wanted for a murder committed 15 years before.

Appearing in the production are Todd Weldon, Nancy Finn, Camille La Fredo, Hannah Kaplan, Srinivas Kanury, Jeremy Hanna and Chris White. The show is directed by Arryck Adams and produced by David Banuelos and Shawn W. Lanz. The set and lighting were designed by Sean Harrington.
