UCLA hosts cancer survivor education day

An educational seminar for cancer survivors will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sat., April 14 at the Covel Commons at Sunset Village on the UCLA campus.

The seminar is intended to help survivors deal with the aftermath of treatment and improve their quality of life.

Experts from the university and other academic centers will discuss long-term and late effects of cancer treatment, integrative and complementary alternative medicines, wellness and healthy behaviors, employment and insurance issues, and psychological concerns survivors and their families may face.

In addition to speaker presentations, there will be sessions on childhood cancer survivors, families and support systems, fertility, genetics, and diet and nutrition.

The charge is $10, plus an $8 fee for campus parking. Space is limited and early registration is recommended. To register, call Erin Hahn at (310) 825-9781 or e-mail eehahn@ucla.edu.

The seminar is presented by the UCLALIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence, part of UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center.
