Fox accused of abusing his power on LAFD
It appears that Mayor Andy Fox's spin machine has penetrated the halls of the Acorn. A story last week would have their readers believe that the Los Angeles Fire Department was reorganized as a regular matter of course, and that Dep. Chief Fox was promoted.

Reassignment or more than that?
In regard to "T.O. mayor puts on a different hat for Los Angeles Fire Department" in the March 8 issue, talk about putting a positive spin on the negative facts. Andy is the only operations deputy chief (second in command of the LAFD) ever to be reduced in position.

The state sets standards on speed limits and rightfully so
Regarding Lynn Road speed limits- in California speed limits are required to be set at the speed that 85 percent of the drivers on that stretch of roadway drive at or below. Contrary to the impression some tried to give, it is not based on what someone in Sacramento thinks.

Thousand Oaks should reverse its decision on drop-off site
I was outraged when I read in last week's Thousand Oaks Acorn "Convenient access site for disabled Arts Plaza patrons to get the ax." It's very nice that they want to beautify and improve the Civic Arts Plaza, but consideration must be given to the disabled.

Supports Kuehl's proposal on healthcare
As a retired state employee of California, a former special education teacher at Camarillo State Hospital, I was outraged when I read Dr. Keith Richman's call for reform of the CALPERS, citing the high cost of medical care. The medical costs in our nation, let alone California...

Praises local recycling efforts
Caps off to Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) and the various sports organizations for partnering together to help keep our neighborhood a little greener (March 1 Thousand Oaks Acorn, "Sports groups receive recycling bins").
