SOLAR-POWERED EVENINGS--Outdoor electric lighting at The Lakes shopping center can be put on hold until nightfall after daylight-saving time begins Sunday at 2 a.m. |

Daylight-saving time officially begins at 2 a.m. Sun., March 11. The time change previously occurred on the first Sunday in April, but has been moved forward. According to the federal government, daylight-saving time saves energy and provides more sunlight for leisure activities in the evening.
The return to standard time has changed, too. Daylight-saving time previously ended the last Sunday in October. This year clocks will be changed a week later, at 2 a.m. Sun., Nov. 4.
Clocks move forward in spring and fall back in autumn.
