After-school programs grow

Ventura County schools have received $3.28 million in AfterSchool Education and Safety grants. The funds will be used to open 29 new afterschool programs serving 2,500 elementary and middle school students.

The grant program funds the establishment of local afterschool education and enrichment programs, which are created through partnerships between schools and local community resources to provide literacy, academic enrichment and safe constructive alternatives for students in kindergarten through ninth grade.
