County Farmers' Markets celebrate Nutrition Month

Members of the Coastal TriCounties Dietetic Association will stress the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables during March, National Nutrition Month, at the Ventura County Farmers' Markets in Ventura.

The monthlong event will be Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Farmers' Market at the Pacific View Mall, west parking lot, and on Sat., March 24 at the downtown Farmers' Market on the corner of Santa Clara and Palm streets.

Shoppers may sample produce selected by the local dieticians as well as obtain nutritional information.

The Ventura County Certified Farmers' Market Association operates four weekly markets, two in Ventura, one in Thousand Oaks and one in Santa Clarita. The Ventura Farmers' Markets are held on Wednesdays at the Pacific View Mall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Saturdays in downtown Ventura from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The T.O. market is from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays at a new location: Hillcrest Center, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive.
