Film and television author Randy Williams profiles the best of the latest movie, television, documentary and music programs now available for purchase online or at your local retail store.

The Departed (Warner Bros.)- Jack Nicholson leads an all-star cast about the story of two men on opposite sides of the law working undercover within the Massachusetts State Police. Highly acclaimed film received five Oscar nominations. Extras include a profile of director Martin Scorsese, history of the Boston Mafia and scene intros by Scorsese.

Babel (Paramount)- Film nominated for seven Academy Awards. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett star as tourists in Morocco when a random act sets off a series of events that tie seemingly disparate people together. "Crash"-like plot spans cultures and continents.

Man of the Year (Universal)- Along with an all-star cast, Robin Williams gives a first-rate performance as a comedian whose tell-it-like-it-is irreverence toward the corridors of power takes him all the way to the White House. Extras include a rare glimpse of the comedian's improvisational genius and a behindthe-scenes look at the making of the film through director Barry Levinson's perspective.

James Bond Ultimate Edition (MGM)- Four boxes, 20 titles, including Connery, Moore, Brosnan and Dalton, plus more gadgets than Q could ever dream of. The title says it all.

The Loneliness of the LongDistance Runner (Warner Bros)- Appearing in one of the best of the acclaimed "angry young men" movies from 1960s England, Tom Courtenay uses his running prowess against the establishment as a reform school inmate.

Gandhi (Sony)- A 25th anniversary collector's edition starring Ben Kingsley as the revered Indian leader. The many extras include vignettes on casting, sets and music.

Stranger Than Fiction (Sony)- An IRS auditor (Will Ferrell) suddenly finds himself the subject of a narration that only he can hear, thoughts that begin to affect his entire life including work, love and death. Bits about location scouting and casting are included, along with outtakes.

Best Picture Collection (Paramount)- Seven-movie gift set contains "American Beauty," "Braveheart," "Forrest Gump," "Gladiator," "The Godfather," "Titanic" and "Terms of Endearment."

Extras: The Complete First Season (HBO)- Part "The Office," part "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Extras" follows the struggles of Andy (Ricky Gervais), an actor of five years who, due to his bungling agent (Stephen Merchant), has been unable to win any speaking lines and constantly tries to break from the chains of being a mere extra.

When Lions Roared (Koch Vision)- This Emmy-winning two-part mini-series, the first shot in high definition, features powerful performances about the precarious WWII relationships between Franklin D. Roosevelt (John Lithgow), Winston Churchill (Bob Hoskins) and Josef Stalin (Michael Caine).

Alias Smith and Jones: Season One (Universal)- A fourdisc set about two ex-bandits, Kid Curry (Ben Murphy) and Hannibal Heyes (Pete Duel), having to prove their desire to go straight before being granted amnesty. Hilarious romp about the pair's misadventures through the Wild West.

24: Seasons 1 to 5 (Fox)- A detailed box set with plenty of extras includes all five seasons of the dangerous exploits of government agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland).

Rockford Files: Season Three (Universal)- In the year he won an Emmy, James Garner is a compelling anti-hero as the wisecracking, ex-con-turned-private-eye living out of a trailer in Malibu.

Mad About You: Complete Third Season (Sony)- The multi-Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning series stars one of TV's most neurotic romantic duos, Paul Reiser as "Paul" and Helen Hunt as "Jamie."

Magnum PI: Season Six (Universal)- A five-disc set presenting 20 episodes of the very charming detective, Tom Selleck, on the job in Hawaii.
