Audubon offers birding field trips for March

The Conejo Audubon Society will offer the following birding field trips in March. For more information, call the leader for each trip.

Hill Canyon, 8 a.m. Sat., March 3- Meet at the Santa Rosa Park. Birds expected are goldfinches, sparrows, hawks, ducks, wrens, Phainopeplas, yellowrump warblers. The leader is Jean Hulberg, (805) 491-2666.

Descanso Gardens, 8 a.m. Sun., March 11- Meet at Rancho park-and-ride at 7:15 to carpool (bring gas money). See redwhiskered bulbuls, sparrows, hawks, songbirds. Birdwalk will be led by a docent from the gardens.

Camarillo Regional Park, 8 a.m. Sat., March 17- Meet at the gate off Lewis Road near entrance to CSUCI. Sightings should include lots of chaparral birds, roadrunners, wrentit, sparrows and water birds along Calleguas Creek. The leader is Chrystal Klabunde, (805) 522-8023.

Private property, 7:30 a.m. Sun., March 25- Carpool from Las Posas park-and-ride (bring gas money). Meet at property at 8 a.m. to walk in. Birds expected include shorebirds, ducks, hawks, herons, blackbirds, possible American bittern. The leader is Tom Halpin, (805) 746-4598.

Soule Park, 7:30 a.m. Sat., March 31- Meet at Las Posas park-and-ride. There should be woodpeckers, sparrows, hawks and possibly early migrants. The leader is Kevin Pickard, (805) 492-6962.
