Curves Food Drive helps the hungry

Curves, the 30minute workout and weight loss center, will sponsor the ninth annual "Curves Food Drive" to benefit local food banks. The drive will be held through the month of March at all 10,000 worldwide Curves locations and is responsible for bringing millions of tons of food to local food banks.

Since opening, Westlake Village and Calabasas Curves have participated in the drive and collected an average of 1,000 to 1,500 pounds of food each year. Anyone joining Curves between March 1 and March 10 who brings a bag of nonperishable groceries will have the normal enrollment fee waived. The general public may also drop off nonperishable food items at the Curves in Westlake Village and Calabasas.

"The Curves Food Drive promotion allows us to help more women reach their fitness goals while giving back to the community simultaneously," said Sheri Sorby, owner of the Westlake Village club.

In addition to the food drive, Curves participates in many fundraising events. The Westlake Village and Calabasas clubs are joining forces and sponsoring a team for the April 28 Relay For Life, which is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
